Nominal zero-backlash center distance
This calculator returns the nominal center distance for standard full-depth gears without profile shift, corresponding to theoretical zero backlash. In practice it is good practice to allow a small amount of backlash to compensate for machining tolerances and thermal expansion, and to ensure adequate lubrication.
