Spur Gears – Nylon Food Application (S-Torque) – Module 3

Polyamide-based technopolymer (PA6) reinforced with glass fibre, suitable for food contact (EU/FDA certified: FDA 21 CFR 177, 21 CFR 178 / EC Reg. 1935/2004, EU Reg. 10/2011), colour: blue. Food-grade certified material and colour masterbatch. With a tensile strength of 176 MPa, an elastic modulus of 8,500 MPa and a melting temperature of 220 °C, this material delivers high structural performance even under demanding operating conditions. Material compliance for food contact does not release the machine manufacturer from the obligation to independently certify the component within its specific application.

The reduced face width compared with the Standard Series lowers mass and moment of inertia for high-speed applications in the food sector. Maximum torque determined using the proprietary Stagnoli methodology. For speeds < 100 RPM, static loads or low duty factors, the permissible torque can increase by up to 50% over the tabulated values. Material and colouring certified for food contact. They can be meshed with steel gears without mandatory lubrication, offering application flexibility and quiet transmission with limited wear. The tooth profile complies with ISO 21771-1.

Injection moulding in food-grade glass-fibre-reinforced PA6 technopolymer, EU/FDA compliant. The reduced face width, obtained directly in the mould, lowers mass and inertia without material removal, ensuring maximum lightness and geometric repeatability. The blue colour identifies the component on the food production line. Material and colouring food-grade certified. Boring and machining can be carried out on request.
