Spur gears in glass-fibre-reinforced PA6: Light Series. Reduced face width for maximum lightness and minimum inertia
Polyamide-based technopolymer (PA6) reinforced with glass fibre, colour: grey. Same robustness as the standard series with a further reduced mass. With a tensile strength of 176 MPa, an elastic modulus of 8,500 MPa and a melting temperature of 220 °C, this material delivers high structural performance even under demanding operating conditions.
The reduced face width, at the same module as the Standard Series, lowers mass and moment of inertia, ideal for high-speed applications. The maximum transmissible torque is determined using the proprietary Stagnoli methodology (theoretical calculations + fatigue testing). For speeds < 100 RPM, static loads or low duty factors, the permissible torque can increase by up to 50% over the tabulated values. Compatible with steel counterparts, these spur gears ensure reliable operation both lubricated and dry, reducing transmission noise and wear. The tooth profile complies with ISO 21771-1.
Injection moulding in glass-fibre-reinforced PA6 technopolymer. The process ensures high dimensional repeatability, precise geometries and a uniform surface finish, with competitive costs compared with machining from solid bar stock. The reduced face width, obtained directly in the mould without material removal, ensures lightness and low inertia with maximum geometric consistency from part to part. Boring and additional machining can be carried out on request.
