Bevel Gears – Polyketone (PK)(S-Shock) – Ratio 1:4
Straight-tooth bevel gears in polyketone (PK): extreme chemical and impact resistance, no squeak, 20° angle
Polyketone (PK), colour: natural. Performance superior to POM for chemically aggressive environments and high impact loads. With a tensile strength of 65 MPa, an elastic modulus of 1,450 MPa and a melting temperature of 220 °C, this material combines good mechanical strength with high chemical and temperature resistance.
High chemical resistance with a strong barrier effect against engine fluids. It ensures thermal and dimensional stability superior to POM and PBT, with resistance to hydrolysis and steam and very low moisture absorption. Impact toughness is 2.5 times higher than POM, while the optimised surface finish eliminates squeaking (stick-slip) in polymer-on-polymer couplings. Compared with the other materials, polyketone offers strong chemical resistance, higher impact toughness and better dimensional stability in the presence of moisture, while retaining the same excellent lubrication-free sliding properties that characterise both materials. Operation paired with steel bevel gears is possible with or without lubrication, with consistent performance, reduced noise and high wear resistance. The tooth profile complies with ISO 23509.
Injection moulding in polyketone (PK). The process ensures high dimensional repeatability and precise bevel geometries, with competitive costs compared with machining from solid. The as-moulded surface finish eliminates squeaking in polymer-on-polymer couplings. The pairs are matched in production. Bore reamed to H10 tolerance directly in production: ready to use. Further machining can be carried out on request.
